		Played on Aeolian Pipe Organ Opus 1431 Recorded in Exeter, Devon, UK   The Aeolian Pipe Organ was justifiably called "The Home Orchestra of the 20th Century". Before High-Fidelity sound recordings became available, the only way to hear orchestral and operatic music in a domestic setting, on demand, was through paper rolls played on one of these marvellous instruments. 'Popular' music is rarely popular for any length of time, the listener soon tires and moves on. Although it was once firmly in the 'popular' category, the music on this CD has a much more enduring quality. Many of these pieces have remained firm favourites for up to three generations. Others were less well-known but nevertheless retain their appeal right up to the present day.   Thanks to the Duo-Art process of reproducing the exact fingering and registration of the original players combined with modern digital sound recording techniques, we are able to hear these pieces exactly as they would have sounded over 80 years ago.
