The Aeolian Pipe Organ
Plays Duo-Art Salon Music
|
Played on Aeolian Pipe Organ Recorded in Exeter, Devon, UK
The Aeolian Pipe Organ was justifiably called "The Home Orchestra of the 20th Century". Before High-Fidelity sound recordings became available, the only way to hear orchestral and operatic music in a domestic setting, on demand, was through paper rolls played on one of these marvellous instruments. The music on the CD is typical of salons, tea-rooms and hotel lobbies of the period. Nowadays this genre of music is nearly fogotten but these delightful tunes have lost none of their charm even though many of them were composed a century ago.
