In 1912, the Edison company produced a new format of cylinder record called the "Blue Amberol". These were made until 1929, of blue celluloid, and gave arguably the best acoustic reproduction of any type of record then available. Paul Morris has a collection of these and has spent many an hour arranging the music on them for organ. Paul Morris is gifted with an uncanny ability to reproduce the music and style of the era. He admits to being a frustrated silent movie organist, having been born 100 years to late! This CD was recorded on a 21 rank Aeolian residence organ in Exeter. It is a very different organ CD for many reasons and a far cry from the "Blackpool sound"- it is a tribute to a gentler era when the theatre organ was just starting out. |
